Backpacking through Cuba. Day 11: Playa Pilar

Day 11. 30/10. Playa Pilar.

With a lot of headache (cheap booze) and ______ we left our luxurious (and free!) camping spot and caught a bus to Playa Pilar. Maricel had already visited Playa Pilarwhen she was young and this westernmost beach on the Cayos had stuck in her memory as the most beautiful beach she had ever seen. I honestly wasn’t able to imagine how a beach could possibly any better then the ones we had already seen (Guardalavaca, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo) but I should be proven wrong.

People, if you look for the perfect beach, now you know where to go: Playa Pilar, a few hour’s ride from Ciego de Avila, only accessible through the road which connects Cayo Coco to Morón. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
